MINDFULNESS

MEDITATION MEET STORY

You will learn how use the practice of daily meditation to become a more empathetic storyteller. Field work will highlight the importance of narrative awareness, which means asking the question "who does this story affect?" Meeting local experts and international partners will give you concrete examples on subjects such as media ethics (Friends International) and media documentation in a post-genocide context (DC-Cam).

MEDIA
SKILLS

PHOTO AND VIDEO

Each intensive media workshop gives you a hands-on experience on producing a video documentary from pre-production to post-production. Mentors and coaches are there to support, encourage and challenge you, while your international teammates will push you to communicate and collaborate in ways that dignify every team member and every role.

DESIGN THINKING

IT STARTS WITH LISTENING

At its core, SoSM is a community building training. Group activities on listening,  leadership and conflict resolution are all part of the design thinking process. By working with a diverse group of local and foreign teammates, filming local personalities, and engaging with local industry leaders, you will emerge as a stronger global leader equipped with skills to facilitate growth and change in your local communities.
